Program Notes

Here's an intriguing concept that works brilliantly when set to music. This unique and striking work uses contemporary percussion techniques, unmeasured sections and dramatic musical effects to set the sections of the band in "conversation" with each other. Strong brass fanfares, woodwind flourishes and short canonic statements lead to an up-tempo climax. A brief slower section features solos for horn and flute before building again to an exuberant finish.
