Program Notes
This arrangement of the overture to one of Franz von Suppé's (of Light Cavalry Overture and Poet and Peasant Overture fame) stage works is a nice way to delve into the light, enjoyable operas of the 19th century. Viennese in character, the tunes are delightful melodies to play even if you don't know the libretto.

Suppé's operetta Das Pensionat received its premiere on 24 November 1860, in Vienna. The title translate as "The Boarding House."
