Darren Allen

Biography

Darren Allen (b. Cleveland, Ohio) is an active percussionist, composer and conductor.

Mr. Allen holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Youngstown State University and a Master of Music degree in music education from Case Western Reserve University.

Raised in the Cleveland area, he has worked in the Bay Village School District since 2005, where the music program has been voted a "Best Music Education Community" in the United States since 2003 by the NAMM Foundation. Allen is a member of the faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) and works with several of its ensembles, as well as the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, which performs regularly at Severance Music Center.

He has performed extensively throughout the Cleveland area with many local jazz groups on drum set, and also plays percussion in the Cleveland Winds. He and his wife Alice, a harpist, perform together in the Parma Symphony Orchestra.
