Program Notes

Designed for second-year players, Michael's energetic overture provides mature and dynamic sounds at a very attainable and easy to learn level. Combining full band unison statements along with some unusual harmonic effects, this is impressive music for young bands.

-Program Note from publisher

Resting in the beautiful Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania, the town of East Stroudsburg was originally known as Dansbury, with a flourishing railroad serving the area. Built in 1864 and referred to locally as the Dansbury Depot, the East Stroudsburg Railroad Station was rescued from demolition in 2010 and is now in the process of restoration and preservation.

Commissioned by the Lehman Intermediate School 6th Grade Band under the direction Matthew Flicker, Dansbury Run suggests an exciting train ride through the scenic mountains. The work is expertly edited to provide students with a complete array of articulations and dynamics to help maximize the music.

-Program Note by the VanderCook College of Music Symphonic Band
