Program Notes

Three dances are musically interpreted in this fanciful multi-movement work. The lively Promenade opens with a fanfarelike statement and employs the full ensemble gallantly. Beginning with a lovely flute solo, the Waltz goes through different moods, from carefree to mysterious and back. The work concludes with the hard-driving Galop. The brisk tempo and technical passages make this an exhilarating finale.
