Program Notes

Dance of the Banished was written as an expression of the tension that exists in the lives of people who have been banished from their native land. It is written particularly for the Iraqi people living in the Dearborn, Michigan. region of the United States. The trombone glissandos add tension to the steady triplet beat taken in one. The reflective middle section builds to a triumphant conclusion and all instruments are active throughout the piece.
