Biography

Curtis Melton is an American composer and conductor. Upon graduating from high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, he attained his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Dr. Melton has been a high school band director since 2005 in the Las Vegas area, and currently is the Director of Bands at Legacy High School in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Under his direction, his marching and concert bands have earned numerous honors and awards. His symphonic bands and wind ensembles have received numerous Superior ratings at contests and festivals. Dr. Melton was featured in the 2009 edition of School Band and Orchestra Magazine's (SBO Magazine) 50 Directors That Make A Difference.

As a composer and arranger, Dr. Melton's original marching band shows entitled Boundaries and Twisted have been published through Gary P. Gilroy Marching Band Publications, and his concert work Exaltation Fanfare can also be found at Gary P. Gilroy Publications. Exaltation Fanfare was recently featured in The Instrumentalist magazine as a featured and reviewed new concert band work.

He continues to write and compose original music for marching and concert bands. Dr. Melton has also worked on original movie soundtracks, working on short and independent films.

For movies, his soundtrack for the film "The Last Resort" (2014) was nominated for Best Music/Score at the 2015 Idyllwild International Film Festival.
