Program Notes

Crescent Meadows was inspired by California's Sequoia National Park, whose breathtaking vistas unfold in the beautiful and lyric sounds. Flute and clarinet solo fragments invoke vivid imagery of this beautiful meadow, after which a short section of contrasting style leads to a dramatic final statement. The work then subsides, ending as it began, with uncommon sensitivity.
