Program Notes
Cousins was composed as a cornet and trombone duet in 1904 by Herbert L. Clarke, cornet soloist with the Sousa band. The piece was originally performed with Clarke as the cornet soloist and Leo Zimmerman as the trombone soloist. Cousins combines technical displays with melodic flow, even in extremely difficult passages.
