Program Notes

This work depicts the impression the composer made when he visited the Cotswolds region in the suburbs of London, England. Published as a brass quintet, it was rewritten for a flexible ensemble so that it can be played on various instruments.

The song consists of three parts, depicting a child playing on the riverside, a family watching over it, an endless green hill, and a rural landscape during the harvest season.
