Program Notes

Petrov composed this short "concerto" for Robert Boudreau and the American Wind Symphony Orchestra shortly after the opening of the Soviet Union in 1991. It was written at the request of Mr. Boudreau and performed by Boudreau's son who is an accomplished trumpet player. Though only about seven minutes long, the work shows the trumpet to good advantage. The style is upbeat and Russian. This will no doubt become a staple in the solo repertoire for trumpet professionals and students world-wide.
