Program Notes

The original composing impulsion of The Clues was motivated by certain plots from the category of suspense movie. At the beginning of suspense movies, audiences normally would be attracted by many details as the movies present. But most of the “details” don’t point to the truth.

There are quite a few themes in the beginning of this composition. Most of them have not been developed, some of them have been eliminated, the others have been combined during the process. Lin Chang compared themes to clues in this composition. Every clue is distinct when the truth is hiding. But as the truth is revealed, most of the clues will be filtrated or combined.
