Program Notes
Beginning with a rousing introduction using thematic and rhythmic motives, this Latin-flavored overture, whose title translates to "city of festivals," is a nice challenge for bands that play at the easy level. After an initial statement of the melody by a solo trumpet, the piece develops by adding instruments and contrapuntal lines.
