Program Notes

In this piece, Reed uses one of the ancient chorale melodies, a tune that has been used by many other composers during the 300 years of its existence (including two settings by J.S. Bach.)

- Program Note from publisher

Based on the old chorale Meine Seele erhebt den Herrn, twice used by Bach in his 371 Four-Part Chorales, but antedating him by at least 100 years.
