Program Notes
Chinese Folk Song Medley uses two pentatonic melodies separated by a short four-measure transition. The first, The Purple Bamboo, is a love song about the gift of a flute and is performed in canon during its second repetition. The second, Yangtze Boatmen's Song, is a river work song. This arrangement includes optional singing parts for each folk song.
