Program Notes

Drawing on the rich and varied tradition of Celtic folksongs, this piece opens with the touching and melodious The Parting Glass. The flutes and percussion take center stage on the dance-like Tha Mi Sgith (A Fairy's Love Song), then the entire band gets into the act for the rousing finish.

- Program Note from publisher

Celtic Air and Dance features two traditional folk melodies. The slower opening section, The Parting Glass, can be traced to the year 1605, although it is frequently found in popular culture, such as the season three premiere of The Walking Dead. The second section features a faster setting of the traditional lullaby Tha Mi Sgrth (A Fairy’s Love Song).
