Program Notes

This piece was written in memory of Scott Cagenello, Dean of Students of Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. His commitment to his students, his love of teaching, and his positive outlook will never be forgotten. This piece is a celebration of his memory.

This piece is intended for advanced ensembles with a particularly strong trumpet section. The trumpet motif pervades throughout the piece and requires fluent technical and rhythmic skill from all players. The tempo remains constant throughout the work, though rubato may be used at the conductor’s discretion. The form of the piece is an ABA format, with a small coda finishing the work.
