Program Notes

Cat's Eye is a brief and virtuosic jewel for brass, and an ideal opener for any brass choir or band concert. The striking fortissimo opening fanfare rapidly gives way to an Allegro Festivo, featuring an engaging rhythmic figure that permeates the work. Although the figure stands on its own, it also serves as backdrop for the primary theme in the exposition and for both the primary and secondary themes in the recapitulation. The return of the opening fanfare leads to a Vivo coda that concludes the work in a brilliant fashion that's sure to please audiences.
