Biography

Casey Cangelosi (b. 26 January 1982) is an American composer, educator and percussionist.

Prof. Cangelosi holds music degrees from Rice University, The Boston Conservatory, and Utah State University.

Casey Cangelosi is commonly hosted world-wide by educational institutions, music festivals, and educational seminars. These include the Piteå Percussion Repertoire Festival in Sweden, in Minneapolis at the Marimba Festival, and at the Zeltsman Marimba Festival in Wisconsin. Since 2011, Casey has performed solo recitals in Italy, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Croatia, Sweden, Taiwan, Portugal, and widely across the U.S.

Cangelosi has received numerous composition awards from both the Massachusetts Percussive Arts Society and the Classical Marimba League. Cangelosi's awards have led to further success in his compositional endeavors. He has been commissioned to write music for Utah State University, Rice University, and the Percussive Arts Society.

Casey Cangelosi has been the director of percussion studies at James Madison University since 2015, and was previously an instructor of music at Concord University from 2009 to 2015. He is also the creator of the @Percussion Podcast.
