Program Notes

The original song Kaze no Play is a flute quartet composed in 2007 as a commissioned work by Tokyo Flute Quartet. In 2013, at the request of the ensemble Spurs, led by the trumpet player Yasuhiko Ueki, it was adapted into two flutes, an oboe, a clarinet, a saxophone, a horn, a bassoon and a double bass octet. Since there were many inquiries about this revised version, we created a flexible version of Capricious Winds II based on it, so that even more varied formations can be handled.

It's a familiar piece with the impression of three winds, so I hope you will enjoy not only the flute but also a wide variety of formations in the future.
