Program Notes

Canterbury Overture follows the usual ABA overture form. The first theme would be described as energetic and the second theme, calm and gentle. The ending phrases are dramatic. Please note that the instrument ranges are very comfortable, and the clear bass function does not need a full low brass or low woodwind section. Six percussion parts will keep the players in that section very interested.
