Program Notes
This composition breathes the atmosphere of Russian folklore, and yet it is not based on existing Russian folksongs. The character can best be described as rhapsodic, bright and virtuoso.
The work has been composed after a commission of Molenaar's Muziekcentrale, and it saw its first performance during the fourth conference of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Orchestras (WASBE) 1989 at Kerkrade (Holland).
