Program Notes

Envision a musical sleigh ride through the upper peninsula of Michigan. Playful and energetic, the opening evolves into a plaintive and sensitive segment of the piece that provides great contrast and expressive opportunities. This exceptional piece has several solo passages for alto saxophone, piccolo, flute, oboe, trumpet and clarinet, and is an excellent choice for concert or contest use.

Brule River Celebration was commissioned by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 14 Directors in memory of Tim Recla, Director of Bands at the Norway-Vulcan Area Schools, 1990-1997.
