Program Notes

This musical celebration embraces our human nature to constantly strive higher. Everyone must climb a personal "mountain," and this metaphor reminds us to continue our journey and never stop — even when we think we've reached the summit.

Opening with a soft rhythmic motive in the percussion, the piece builds to a grand thematic statement. A beautiful lyrical section includes several melodic statements that are then intertwined in the powerful concluding material.
