Program Notes

Impressive and unique, this outstanding Robert Sheldon composition is certain to be heard at many music festivals and concerts for years to come. Sheldon's distinctive compositional style challenges young players allowing them to grow while providing directors with effective program material for a wide variety of performance situations.

Beyond the Higher Skies was commissioned by the Tenafly Middle School Band, Tenafly, New Jersey, Walter C. Schneider, director.

Program Note from publisher

Beyond the Higher Skies announces the beginning of our program in majestic fashion. Brass fanfares and woodwind flourishes open the piece before it settles into an ebullient melody introduced by the trumpets. The slower and more lyrical middle section is introduced by woodwind choir with tender and poignant harmonies that give way to the return of the original tempo for an exciting conclusion.
