Biography

Bert Truax (b. 1954, Richardson, Tx.) is an American composer and trumpeter.

Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Truax began playing trumpet at age seven. He studied trumpet performance at Curtis Institute of Music, finishing in 1976. He was second trumpet with the Dallas Symphony for 23 years. He also played second trumpet for the Philadelphia Orchestra during their 1985-86 season.

As a successful composer, Truax has had commissions from the Dallas Symphony, The Dallas Bach Society, the Military Academy at West Point, and the New York Philharmonic principal trombone Joseph Alessi. He continues to freelance and compose in the Dallas Metroplex.
