Program Notes

This interesting work for concert band with narrator opens with martial sounds that harken back to the days of the Civil War. The text of the beloved carol I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is revealed in the context of that historic period. The music provides a stirring backdrop as the true meaning of the text is conveyed to the audience.
