Program Notes

Technically undemanding and offering flexibility of player-strength, this is another of those marvelously inventive Gorb recreations. Here he takes a fresh look at the highly fashionable 17th century battle romps, all fanfares, drum rolls and martial scrimmaging. Ten sections in ten minutes, the action never flags for a moment in this breathtaking blend of baroque pastiche and something more subversively contemporary.
