Program Notes

Avalanche Lake was inspired by a trip to Glacier National Park. The lake sits at the base of Bearhat Mountain and Little Matterhorn and is accessible by a five-mile hike through the forested mountains. The gorgeous view is enhanced by several long waterfalls that can be seen plunging down the side of the mountains.

The piece begins in a way that reflects on the quiet beauty of this scene before becoming more energetic and ultimately reflecting exuberance and joy.
