Program Notes

Arts du Cirque takes the listener on an exotic musical journey through a day at the circus. You hear the lion tamers, the trapeze artist--you even hear the clowns. It is a tapestry of sounds and marvelously orchestrated colors, not a tongue-in-cheek presentation.

- Program Note by publisher

This piece is programmatic, telling the story of the different parts of the circus. The parade of performers is represented in a majestic introduction. The second section layers several different rhythms on top of each other, symbolizing the many events that often occur at the same time. A trapeze section provides some great melodic content. There are sections that have some Latin flavor, and at times the piece seems to be more like a super- hero soundtrack then a circus theme.
