Program Notes

A lush, slow opening section progresses through a triumphant fanfare into a lively faster section. The contrasting slow middle section emphasizes harmonic texture and contour, moving quickly into the energetic finale.

Arabesque was commissioned by the Utica Community Schools Board of Education, Utica, Michigan. The work was premiered by the Stevenson High School Band, Sterling Heights, Michigan, William Cable, director. It is dedicated to the memory of William Peper.
