Program Notes

Natural beauty and cultural heritage inspire the musical material of this expressive work. Lyrical and rhythmic, it provides a wonderful opportunity to expose the early-intermediate band to lively new rhythms and rich sonorities.

- Program Note from publisher

This composition was commissioned by the J.T. Lambert Intermediate School (East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania) Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands. The composer remarks that he considered students' collective geographical cultural heritage in being in the upper region of the Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania. Beginning with a brass fanfare, the woodwinds and percussion provide underpinning to an opening section. The second and third sections feature the woodwinds and percussion, with the most challenging percussion parts being the xylophone and marimba parts.
