This spirited composition explores the interesting rhythmic culture of the Andalusian people of Spain. The attention-grabbing piece includes lively syncopated rhythms throughout, spirited sixteenth-note figures, a bold solo trumpet melody that recurs throughout the piece, attractive harmonies, interesting contrasts, and well-conceived percussion scoring that includes parts for castanets, tambourine, and vibraslap.
