Program Notes

With distinct passion and fervor, this musical portrait is sure to be an uplifting and inspiring work for concert band. A remarkable celebration for those who inspire us, motivate us, and blaze trails before us, inspiring us to strive to be all we can be.

- Program Note from publisher.

And Hope Led Them Home by Patrick Roszell and Justin Williams, is described by its composers as a musical portrait and timeless reminder of the heroes, past and present, who taught us, inspired us, and led us home. This piece was commission by Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford, director of Bands at Jacksonville State University, in honor of Dr. David L. Waters, Director of Bands Emeritus (1961-1991) at Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama.

The composers have furnished excellent program and performance notes on the inside cover. The music is in six sections including fanfare, tranquil reflection, musical landscapes, atonement, final sunset, and triumphant return. It includes solos for trumpet, flutes, bassoon oboe, horn and trombones.
