Program Notes

Composed for the Alabama Winds, a premiere wind band based in the Birmingham area, Alabama Fanfare was written specifically as a concert opener. Beginning with a timpani quote from the Alabama state song, the winds respond with a flourish of fanfare figures. The energy continues as the ensemble and its gifted conductor are introduced leading to a quote from My Home's In Alabama by the iconic country-rock group Alabama. The fanfare flourish returns bringing the opening statement to an exciting conclusion.
