Program Notes

Opening with the stately sounds of a brass choir, the stage is set for this majestic and soaring work. Following the solemn introduction, the full ensemble then takes off, led by a rapidly moving mallet percussion line. This uplifting section then races to the end, finishing with an echoing and memorable restatement of the beginning.

- Program Note from publisher

Commissioned by and dedicated to the Hauppauge (Long Island, N.Y.) High School Wind Ensemble, Andrew Monsen, Director.

- Program Note from score

The title, a Latin term meaning "soaring" or "rising aloft," was chosen by the high school band that commissioned the work in recognition of the great strides their band program has made in recent years.
