Program Notes

The piece, which was commissioned for the project "21 marches for the 21st century", supported by Arts Council Norway, was recorded by the Norwegian Defense Music Corps and released on SIMAX.

"A march should be in major, in four quarter time and have clearly separated parts, the composer writes in the work description. And this march is definitely in a major key -- usually in several of them at the same time. The piece progresses rhythmically, as if the band is playing several marches at once. Melodies, accompaniment figures and keys are constantly crashing into each other, and it all ends up as a delicious, organized chaos."
