Program Notes

21st Century Overture is a contemporary composition premiered at the 2019 Menominee River Conference Honors Band Festival in commemoration of their 15th anniversary. Written in three movements, the inspiration for this concert work is drawn from the many positive and optimistic developments that have taken place in the 21st century. More than ever, cultures are learning from each other, and we see that we have more in common than realized. New ideas, views, and practices from all over the world invigorate and inspire us. In the 21st century, we are learning that our differences make us stronger.
