Program Notes

Yugagyo Chugan - azuma kagami ibun was commissioned by Fujimura Girls' Junior and Senior High School Band. The title refers to yugagyo, an ascetic practice of Vajrayana (Esoteric Buddhism), and Azuma Kagami, a history of the Kamakura period that still retains many mysteries. The piece has a mysterious atmosphere overall, utilizes various percussion and chorus effectively.
