William Palange

Biography

William Palange is an American composer and educator.

Mr. Palange holds a degree in music education from the University of Miami (Fla.), where he performed as trombonist under the baton of Dr. Fredrick Fennell with the UM Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He was a high school band director for over 34 years, 1986 to 2010. He conducted the Oswego (N.Y.) High School Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, and was director of the Oswego HS Marching Buccaneers until his retirement in 2010. He also taught in the Jordan-Elbridge (N.Y.) and Greece (N.Y.) school districts.

Mr. Palange continues to be very active as a guest conductor, composer and performer in and around central New York. He appears frequently as guest conductor for band festivals, All County and Area All State events across New York state. His compositions for concert band have been published by Alfred Music Publishers (Atlas and Alliance). As trombonist, he has backed up nationally acclaimed artists including Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Bernadette Peters, Marvin Hamlisch, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, and Aretha Franklin. He has also performed in the Gap Mangione Big Band and Danny D'Imperio’s "Bloviation." He is currently lead trombone with the CNY Jazz Orchestra, the Mario DeSantis Orchestra and the Bearcat Jazz Band.
