Program Notes

When Honor Whispers and Shouts was commissioned by the United States Marine Band as part of the celebration of the band's 200th birthday. It is dedicated to the United States Marine Band, Col. John R Bourgeois and Lt. Col. Timothy Foley, conductors. When Honor Whispers and Shouts has three sections in one movement. They are A Call, A March, and The Victory. The work is sub-dedicated to Bob C. Riley, former Lt Governor and Governor of the State of Arkansas who was the composer's favorite Marine. Bob Riley was severely wounded on Okinawa when he was seventeen years old, and was the composers best friend until his death in 1995.
