Program Notes

This mashup of tunes begins with the piano playing that simple Heart and Soul melody that anyone who has ever touched a piano has plinked out. That basic melody is gradually augmented with snatches of other tunes, Christmas and not: Dream Dream Dream, Blue Moon, Sleigh Ride, Up on a Housetop, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and others. Gradually the theme from Beethoven's Ode to Joy becomes dominant and brings what began as a simple little tune to a grand symphonic close.
