From Wind Repertory Project
Greetings! My name is Nikk Pilato, and I am the founder/webmaster/executive director of The Wind Repertory Projectâ„¢.
This project began as a labour of love, and is 100% free to use by anyone (all that I ask is that you give credit where credit is due when it comes to using Program Notes). I have long been a fan of wind music, going back to my middle school days in South Florida. After coming across the excellent Orchestral Music: A Handbook by David Daniels (which is a listing of orchestral music, including publisher information, instrumentation, and other categorical data), I wondered why the same was not possible for wind music. I briefly considered doing a similar project as a doctoral dissertation, but when the scope of the project became obvious, I postponed working on it until after I graduated and could devote time to it in a new incarnation: An online database. The database is run and administered by myself, with invited editors helping flesh out the database, weeding out inaccuracies, adding information, and generally helping to ensure that The Wind Repertory Projectâ„¢ is a helpful and comprehensive database for everyone.
When I am not working on this project, I am working at the University of Georgia, where I am Assistant Director of Bands. You will find more information about me at my website, or you can email me with any questions you may have.
If you would like to contribute information to the Wind Repertory Projectâ„¢, please visit the FAQ first, located in the left sidebar.
Sincerely,
Nikk Pilato, Ph.D.
