Biography

Tohru Aki (b. 6 July 1956, Sapporo, Japan) is a Japanese composer.

Aki graduated from Hokkaido University, Department of Physics in 1983 and the Kyoto City University of Arts Faculty of Music, where he studied with Akira Fujishima Hisashi and Maeda Morikazu.

Since 1983, he has engaged in various works as a composer and an arranger. As a freelance composer, Aki works in a wide range of fields including music drama TBS, NTV, and Toei v cinema. His works have been performed in various countries by many musicians, and won popularity in Paris, Berlin, Manchester, Hamburg, New York, San Paulo, Rio, etc.
