Timothy Blinko
Biography
Timothy Blinko (Born 1965) studied at the Royal College of Music, where he was awarded the PRS Sir Arthur Bliss Scholarship, a Vaughan Williams Trust scholarship and five prizes for composition. While studying for his Masters degree, he was appointed to the Composition and Musicianship Faculty of the Royal College Junior Department, and was made Head of Musicianship Studies in 1994. He joined the University of Hertfordshire after seven years at London University's Birbeck College and the Mountview Theatre School, which has become the leading drama school for musical theatre.
Timothy has many published works, three CD recordings, and has received broadcasts on BBC Radio 4, Radio 3, Classic FM and Channel 4. He has had performances of his music in Europe, USA, Japan, New Zealand and throughout the UK (including the Barbican and South Bank Concert Halls). He is also involved in performing and recording as a singer.
His biography is listed in International Musician's Who's Who, and of his saxophone quartet the London Daily Telegraph critic wrote :"In the first performance of Timothy Blinko's deftly crafted 'Sculptures', their sound argued as eloquently for the music as for the acceptance of the saxophone quartet medium. If the shade of Adolphe Sax smiled down at any time during the Saxophone Congress, it may have been then."
