Program Notes

Three Chorales explores the great variety of instrumental choir and voicing combinations inherent in the symphonic band. Integral to the successful realization of the Chorales is the graceful "handing off" of the musical ideas. The work includes chorales by Bernardo Pasquini, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Georg Friderich Handel.

Three Chorales was premiered by the Hazen, North Dakota High School Band under the direction of James Thornton in 1992.
