Thomas Willmann

Biography

Thomas Willmann (b. 1983, Missouri) is an American music educator, conductor, composer, and trombonist.

Mr. Willmann is the visiting director of bands and music education at Texas Wesleyan University and serves as an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University, a master's degree from the University of Colorado, and a bachelor's degree from Butler University on a performance scholarship.

Thomas has been teaching K-collegiate, band, choir, and general music since 2005 at private, charter, and public schools. He is an active clinician and guest speaker at middle and high schools in the DFW area.

The trombone is Thomas’s primary instrument, and he has been actively playing for more than 27 years. He is a guest conductor and plays first trombone with the Greater Fort Worth Community Band and was the first trombone for the Little London Winds in Colorado Springs for three years; he has been a guest musician with the Colorado State University Symphony Orchestra and with Soli Deo Gloria for Mass performances. He freelances with classical and contemporary groups.

Thomas is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Florida Music Education Association (FMEA), Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA), Florida Bandmaster’s Association (FBA), International Society of Music Educators (ISME), College Band Director’s National Association (CBDNA), Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Kappa Psi.
