Program Notes

High energy, rhythmic verve and tuneful melodies characterize this vibrant concert work. The colorful orchestration in the winds and active and varied parts for the percussion make this piece a delight.

Synergy requires cooperative interaction that creates a positive result. The Columbus Middle School Band of Columbus, Nebraska, commissioned Synergies to be dedicated to the citizens of Columbus, whose motto is "A City of Power and Progress." The title is purposefully used in its plural form to represent not only the citizens of Columbus as they work toward the development of their community, but also the band members as they work toward the creation of a musical performance.
