Summer in Rio is a work depicting a South American festival. This entertaining work is filled with Latin melody and lively rhythms.

While Summer in Rio is perhaps one of Claude T. Smith’s lesser known works, it definitely possesses his trademark style of writing. Written as a reflection of a Latin American festival, Summer in Rio makes full use of Latin percussion instruments and utilizes a rhythmic groove that quickly relates to audiences of all ages.
