Program Notes

Chappell's Army Journal No. 376. This Suite is arranged from the ballet composed by Tchaikovsky at the request of the Imperial Opera of Moscow. It was completed and produced in the early part of 1877. The subject of the ballet is mythical, and is founded upon the legend of the young Prince Siegfried and the Princess Odette.

- Program Note from score

Swan Lake, Op. 20, is a ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875–76. Despite its initial failure, it is now one of the most popular of all ballets.

The scenario, initially in two acts, was fashioned from Russian and German folk tales and tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse.
